Meet the Team

  • Roger Morton

    Roger has been coaching Parliamentary, Public Forum and Policy Debate for over ten years. He graduated from The University of Southern California (USC), where he was an active competitor on the mock trial and debate teams, earning a B.A. in Economics and Psychology. After university, he spent four years at a Venture Capital fund in Los Angeles, finding that his prior experience in debate was the single most valuable academic experience as a professional investor. .

  • Eleanor Marsh

    Eleanor has passionate about coaching competitive debate since competing on the University of Nottingham’s debating union. Eleanor also has over five years of experience teaching theatre for secondary school students, where she finds that many of the skills necessary to truly engage an audience as a performer directly translate into debate. More than anything, Eleanor finds that confidence in public speaking and debate starts with curiosity; students often learn most effectively when they are simply having fun unpacking topics

  • Halina Li

    Halina has seen significant tournament success as a competitor and coach in Mock Trial and Debate. She studied at McGill University in Montreal where she actively competed on the University Mock Trial and British Parliamentary Debate Teams. Halina has also actively judged Public Forum debate tournaments at both the high school and collegiate level, alongside coaching collegiate Mock Trial. Halina is passionate about the power of debate to foster deep critical thinking skills , which are so often neglected in modern education.

  • Justin Boyette

    Justin has an extensive background as both a coach and competitor in Public Forum Debate and Mock Trial, where he has seen success as a competitor in several national tournaments. He received his B.A. in English from the University of Florida, where he began is career as a creative; his work in music production, podcasting and writing have all gained notable international recognition. He has also worked extensively with youth in esports, both as a coach and as a tournament host.

  • Rody Visotski

    Rody has coached hundreds of competitors in debate and mock trial, primarily at the high school level, with many of his students reaching the highest levels of tournament success. Rody also actively participates as a coach and competitor in collegiate debate and mock trial at the University of Calgary. Alongside inspiring curiosity and confidence in students, Rody is an expert at helping students hone and practice argument construction, cross examination strategy, and rebuttal delivery.

  • Jake Hook

    ake graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy at UCLA and is currently completing his Ph. D in philosophy at SUNY Stony brook. Jake has an extensive background as an educator, having led undergraduate classes at the university level for over three years. His research in philosophical ethics, focusing on Aristotle, Kant, and J.S. Mill, feature frequently in competitive debate classes, where persuading an audience to accept a given moral framework is a critical condition to winning a round.

  • James Fyfe

    James has been coaching British Parliamentary and Policy Debate at the collegiate level for over five years. He studied Economics and Political Science at the University of Glasgow, where he received a B.A. with honors. Alongside coaching debate as side passion, James works in management consulting, where he finds that the teamwork and leadership skills forged by debate are invaluable.
